ACTION NETWORK

Call on the Bank of England to support green investment
If the Bank of England is serious about addressing climate change, it must escalate its efforts to support a green transition.
This petition from Positive Money calls upon the Bank of England to use its power to create money to decarbonise our economy, rather than strengthening the fossil fuel industry, and to introduce tougher regulation of high-carbon lending while encouraging investment towards a low-carbon transition.
Bank of England: Put your money where your mouth is - unleash green investment Now!

WOMEN'S INSTITUTE WI
The WI has a proud history of taking action to protect the environment.
Over the years the WI has cleaned up our beaches, stood up for the honeybee and campaigned for wide areas of special beauty. In recent times, this concern for our natural environment has seen members rally against climate change.
Climate change is already affecting the things we love. It can be seen through increased flooding, summer heatwaves and the decline of bee populations. It is changing the seasons, disturbing the journeys of migrating birds and affecting crops and flowers.
The WI is a founding member of The Climate Coalition, a group of 130 organisations including The National Trust, WWF and Christian Aid, who work to protect what we love from climate change and lobby politicians to prioritise tackling climate change.

FLYING

PLEDGE NOT TO FLY IN 2021

Flight Free UK is aiming to get 100,000 people to pledge not to fly in the year of 2020 in an effort to avert climate breakdown. The aim is to contribute to the climate change debate and raise awareness of the climate impact of aviation with a wide audience.
If you haven't already done so, please add your name if you can, and/or circulate to your contacts.

WORLD RESOURCES INSTITUTE

WRI is a global research organization that spans more than 50 countries, with offices in the United States, China, India, Brazil, Indonesia and more. Our more than 700 experts and staff work closely with leaders to turn big ideas into action to sustain our natural resources—the foundation of economic opportunity and human well-being. Our work focuses on seven critical issues at the intersection of environment and development: climate, energy, food, forests, water, cities and the ocean.

CLIMATE INTERACTIVE

Climate Interactive creates interactive, scientifically rigorous tools that help people see connections, play out scenarios, and see what works to address the biggest challenges we face.
Based on a long tradition of system dynamics modeling out of MIT that explores the interplay between social and planetary systems, our simulations cover a range of topics, from climate change and clean energy to disaster risk reduction and resilience.
Our work is guided by principles of transparency, collaboration, and staying action-oriented. [Read More]

POSSIBLE
We’re on a mission to speed up action on climate change.
We know that the speed and scale we’ll need to work at means it will touch everyone’s lives. If we’re going to move at the speed required - and if we’re going to ensure the new world we build is a fair one - people and communities have to be involved.
Whether it’s our world-leading Solar Schools campaign, research to build solar powered railways, or fighting the ban on onshore wind, everything we do is about inspiring more people to take more action on climate change.
We run positive, practical projects focused on tackling climate change at the community level, and turn these local actions into a force for bigger changes.

NETWORK FOR CLIMATE ACTION

The Climate Action Network (CAN) is a worldwide network of over 1300 Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) in more than 120 countries, working to promote government and individual action to limit human-induced climate change to ecologically sustainable levels.
CAN members work to achieve this goal through information exchange and the coordinated development of NGO strategy on international, regional, and national climate issues. CAN has regional network hubs that coordinate these efforts around the world.
CAN members place a high priority on both a healthy environment and development that "meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs" (Brundtland Commission). CAN's vision is to protect the atmosphere while allowing for sustainable and equitable development worldwide.
